polished concrete

Polished Concrete is identified as the act of refining concrete. The concrete is first ground using 18, 30, 40, 60 or 80 grit metal bond segments, depending on aggregate exposure desired. It is then followed by applying cementitious patching materials to cracks and divots; joints are treated with a poly-urea based caulking compound.  The concrete is then honed with 50, 100 and 200 ceramic bond pucks. After the concrete is polished with 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 or 3000 grit resin bond pads are used depending on desired sheen finish. A densifier is applied in between the resin bond pad polishing and finally a stain protector is applied and burnished. Polished concrete finishes vary in aggregate exposure and more commonly in sheen. We qualify sheen levels by the following: honed surface, matte polish, semi-gloss polish, gloss (most common finish), high gloss. We also qualify aggregate exposure by the following: cream (no aggregate is exposed), salt & pepper (1/8” size sand), medium aggregate (1/4”) and large aggregate exposure (3/8” and over). Contact our professional sales team for more information.
